Digipaks typically consist of a gatefold (book-style) paperboard or card stock outer binding, with one or more plastic trays capable of holding a CD or DVD attached to the inside. The digipak is more commonly used for albums rather than singles. However some singles to tend to use digipaks too. Also record companies have brought out old CD albums and used special edition digipaks to increase sales of the product. To be environmentally friendly, instead of using plastic for the inside tray of the traditional digipak, the makers of the product have replaced the material with recycled waste
